Vendorization Process

Thank you for your interest in serving people with developmental disabilities in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties.

Kern Regional Center (KRC) partners with hundreds of service providers – also known as “vendors” – to ensure that services and supports meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities to live safely and with dignity in our community.

This section provides information and requirements for those interested in becoming authorized to provide services (becoming “vendored”) to Kern Regional Center’s individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Please note a service provider must have an office within Kern Regional Center’s Catchment area (Kern, Inyo or Mono County).

Overview

Vendorization is the process for identification, selection, and utilization of service providers based on the qualifications and other requirements necessary in order to provide the services. The vendorization process allows regional centers to verify an applicant meets all the requirements, prior to the provision of services.

Service providers are vendored by the regional center in whose catchment area the service is located, known as the vendoring regional center. The vendoring regional center is responsible for ensuring that the applicant meets licensing and Title 17 requirements for vendorization, determining the appropriate vendor category for the service to be provided, and approving or disapproving vendorization based upon their review of the documentation submitted by the applicant.

Kern Regional Center relies on our community service providers to meet the needs of our community. The Community Services Department is the division to identify, recruit, and maintain qualified services providers.

To become a vendor:

If you are interested in becoming a service provider for Kern Regional Center, please download (first) and complete the Letter of Interest and email it to interestletter@staging.kernrc.org

along with a resume and two reference letters added as attachments.

(Please note becoming a Kern Regional Center vendor does not guarantee referrals from the regional center or its staff.)

If the Service you are interested in becoming a vendor for, requires a Request for Proposal (RFP), then you will be added to the RFP List. If the Service you are interested in becoming a vendor for does not require an RFP, the Interest Letter will be reviewed by Community Services. As RFP’s are posted, emails will be sent through Constant Contact (RFP mailing list), posted below and on KRC’s Social Media accounts. The RFP notices will contain directions that you will need to follow to be considered for these projects which are identified as priorities in our resource development.

Request for Proposals

Request for Proposal (RFP) notices will be sent out through the RFP mailing list and posted on Kern Regional Center’s Social Media accounts.
