What is the Child Find?
Kern Regional Center participates in child find activities which is a vital part of our commitment to locate and identify all infants and toddlers (under age 3) who may be eligible for the Early Start program as defined in Federal Code of Regulation 34, § 303.302(b) and California Code of Regulation Title 17, § 52040. Infants and toddlers who are suspected to have a developmental delay or at risk for a developmental disability will be referred for an evaluation at Kern Regional Center by their parents, medical providers or other community agencies. These activities are inclusive to infants and toddlers and their families who are experiencing homelessness, highly mobile migrants, wards of the state and young children who are Native Americans. Children identified will be residing within the 3 counties that are included in Kern Regional Center’s catchment area: Kern, Inyo and Mono county.
